Thrombosis is the formation of a blood clot, known as a thrombus, within a blood vessel.

It prevents blood from flowing normally through the circulatory system.
Cancer-associated thrombosis is a major cause of mortality in cancer patients.
The most common type being venous thromboembolism (VTE). Patients with cancer are at increased risk of venous and arterial thrombosis.
A leading cause of death in patients with cancer, thrombosis is associated with higher mortality risk, irrespective of cancer stage.
